Official Rules

1. SPORTSMANSHIP/AND THE LAW

Any participant who displays poor sportsmanship, violates these rules, or violates any local, state or federal law is subject to disqualification and expulsion. Matagorda Harbor rules will be strictly enforced. All participants must have a valid State of Texas Fishing License. No Speckled Trout are to be taken in the TOCIFT 2024 event.

2. ELIGIBILITY

Only a person that is directly employed by a drilling, exploration, production or service company of the Petroleum Industry and is over 21 years of age is eligible to participate in the Texas Oilman’s Charity Invitational Fishing Tournament. Spouses, children, or other dependents of participants are not eligible to participate unless they meet the above criteria. There will be no exceptions to this rule. NOTE: the TOCIFT Screening Committee will decide eligibility of companies. If you have any questions regarding eligibility of a company or participant, call (832) 649-1097. All decisions of the Screening Committee are final.

3. BOUNDARIES

Texas state waters and offshore waters.

4. SAFETY

Safe boating practices must be in effect at all times. Any person exhibiting drunkenness and/or recklessness will be expelled.

5. FISH CATEGORIES

A first, second and third prize is awarded for each category:

INSHORE:

6. TACKLE

Artificial, cut and/or live bait may be used. Only rod and reel outfits may be used. Trolling is permitted.

7. ENTRIES

All sponsorships must be paid by July 1st each year to be guaranteed participation. The tournament will be limited to 850 participants.

8. REGISTRATION

Participants will be screened for eligibility according to Texas Oilman’s Charity Invitational guidelines.

        • Upon approval, participant’s name will be forwarded for his or her badge to be printed.

        • Each badge will have participant’s full legal name, employer, category (angler, worker, or guest/guide), and sponsor company.

        • A badge is non-transferable after registration. Any person found transferring his badge to another non-registered party will be prohibited from fishing in future TOCIFT Events.

        • Have driver’s license ready for verification of name and license number at the Registration booth to obtaine a badge. Once the screener has checked for accuracy, participant will be granted entry.

        • Participants shall have name badge on at all times inside the event tent or on the tournament premises.

        • Badges can only be obtained at the registration booth at the event.

9. FISHING HOURS

It is the responsibility of each participant to understand and abide by the prescribed fishing hours and weigh-in times, as they will be strictly enforced. The Weigh-in Committee at the weigh-in site will keep official time. Anglers can weigh-in one fish per category per day.

10. SCALE WEIGH-IN

• No weigh-ins accepted before or after the time scheduled.
• Angler must present photo ID and TOCIFT Badge to weigh-in a fish.
• Angler can only weigh-in fish they caught (no team weigh-in).
• Angler can only weigh-in one fish per category per day.

11. TIES

In the event of a tie in any category, the first fish weighed will prevail. All decisions by Weigh Master are final.
